Week 3 2017 Jets v Vipers

Contrasting fortunes for the Jets verses the Vipers at Farrall Oval in the Swan Valley with the juniors recording a shut-out win and the seniors experiencing the opposite. Week 3 October 21st 2017.

Up first were the juniors against a heavily favoured Vipers side with a large number of returning players from last season and a reputation to uphold.

On defence the Junior Vipers were almost able to hold their own but their offence failed to fire. All of the action took place in the first half as the Junior Jets got their act together on the passing game with quaterback Marcus Westlake throwing a touchdown and one two point conversion to last year’s league top scorer Will Bevan and another touchdown to new player Tom Hockley. Defensive standout was once again Ben Moran with several key tackles and vital interceptions. Jets 14 Vipers 0 at half time and full time.

Next up was the senior game against a Vipers squad on top of the league after the first two games of the season and looking to further extend their place as competition leaders.

With a large number of experienced players returning for the 2017 season, the Vipers see themselves as favourite to book their place in the play-offs. Having already recorded one victory to nil so far this year, their defence looks to close out the opposition. The Jets rookies tried hard but failed to move the ball towards the endzone with enough momentum to get over the goal line.

On offence the Vipers were able to move the ball against the brand new Jets defence a tad too easy, but with the new players learning week by week, day by day and play by play, each time the Vipers moved the ball was tougher than the last. Only time on the field can give experience and skills continue to improve. Jets 0 Vipers 58.
